A global tribute to the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. It’s a day to reflect on his values, principles, and enduring impact. Let’s unite to make a positive difference in our communities!
🌧️💔 Devastating floods in the Western Cape have displaced families, flooded homes, and disrupted essential services. In these challenging times, the Oudtshoorn Western Cape Department of Health & Wellness EMS/AMS rescue helicopter has been a beacon of hope. Their missions have ranged from rescuing construction workers to delivering crucial food supplies and conducting wellness checks for isolated farm communities. 🚁✨
Here’s an overview of the missions conducted:
- 11 individuals were extracted from farms in the Laingsburg area isolated by floodwaters, and critical food supply drops and wellness checks were conducted.
- In Steenberg se Kloof, our team airlifted an Eskom worker who required medical attention after he had hiked up the mountain with his colleagues to repair damaged infrastructure, to restore power to Kannaland after over a week of outage.
A heartfelt thank you to our crew Captain Graham Archibald, external load operator Theo Schilder, Emergency Cape Practitioner Lucas Nienaber, and METRO rescuer Marcelleno Gordon for their dedication in navigating challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions during these critical missions. These missions needed to be conducted quickly as snow and rain were coming. Our sincere appreciation to our colleagues in emergency and disaster management who selflessly dedicate their lives to helping others.
We are grateful to serve humanity. You can support our lifesaving missions by becoming a monthly or once-off donor – every contribution big or small helps us in “changing lives and saving lives.” Visit: https://ams.org.za/your-donation-can-make-a-difference/
