Accountant based at Head Office: Cape Town International Airport
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for managing the finance department.
Role description:
The role is also responsible for the operational function in costing analysis and management information needs. In addition, the incumbent will contribute to the on-going efficiency and improvements in all areas of the organisation. The position interacts directly with seniors /operational managers in all functional areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide information to the Financial Manager to facilitate management reporting.
- Management and supervision of finance department
- Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register.
- Management of full treasury function. Includes reviewing and loading of monthly supplier EFT payments, ad hoc EFT payments and foreign supplier payments.
- Preparation of month-end journal entries and balance sheet review.
- Full Accounts Receivable function, including debtor’s collections.
- Maintenance of General ledger and processing month end journals
- Develop, implement, and maintain product costing of inventory using Xero.
- Preparation for annual budgets / annual audits
- Cash flow management
- Preparation and submission of all statutory tax returns (PAYE, UIF, SDL, VAT, WCA).
- Review and assisting with processing supplier invoices
- Provision of the ad hoc analysis and advice as required.
- Provision to on-going finance process improvements and enhancement of management information.
- Can from time to time be requested to perform duties outside immediate areas of responsibility
Requirements:
- Financial/Accounting degree is required – SAIPA Advantageous
- At least three to five years working experience in finance
- Ability to manage and develop staff
- Strong financial management skills
- The ability to provide financial information for strategic business decisions
- The ability to implement accounting standards and accepted business practices in financial reporting
- The ability to produce and deliver accessible and informative financial reports on tight deadlines
- Computer literacy with strong Excel skills is essential
- Knowledge of XERO highly advantageous
- A clear and methodical approach to problem solving
- Ability to understand complex concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Adaptability to a fast-changing environment.
- Flexibility with changing requirements regarding working hours.
- Reliable personal transport
