Our heartfelt condolences

10 October 2022: It is with much sadness that we inform you of the passing of Mr Alan Marshall this past Sunday afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Marshall’s loved one’s and we extend our deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.

“Many of you may know that Alan was instrumental in founding and establishing the AMS. He was involved with the organisation for 47 years, serving as a volunteer command pilot and training instructor on the fixed wing platform since 1973 and was instrumental in the expansion of the AMS. Alan was the inaugural Chairperson of the AMS when it was formed into a separate Trust in 1994 and served on the AMS Board of Trustees for 25 years. He played an immeasurable role in development of the AMS over the years and his contribution is part of the foundation upon which our organisation is built.

As command pilot and training instructor Alan Marshall has flown and trained pilots on the following AMS aircraft: Piper Aztec, Piper Chieftain, Cessna Citation and Pilatus PC12.

Alan had a technical astuteness second to none, with the ability to see through complex issues and provide practical and progressive solutions and guidance. Alan was a true gentleman with a caring nature, which he used to advance and champion social causes throughout his life. In the true spirit of Ubuntu, Alan’s sincere engagement with all levels of staff as well as his compassion and empathy for the patients he has flown will leave a lasting legacy”, said Farhaad Haffejee AMS CEO

The AMS and our country has lost a true friend and an upright citizen.

May his soul rest in eternal peace 🙏🏽.
