12 April 2024: For the third day this week, early this morning the Oudtshoorn Western Cape Department of Health & Wellness EMS/AMS rescue helicopter in collaboration with Gift of the Givers and Garden Router Disaster Management took off from its Oudtshoorn base to provide much-needed humanitarian assistance to 13 people stranded by flood damage to access roads within a remote area of Matjiesvlei, west of the Gamkas  River.  Prescription medication has been delivered, wellness checks have been conducted and food supplies have been provided to those stranded. To date, 11 people who have been trapped in Die Hel, Gamkaskloof, were airlifted and taken to a place of safety.
