Lifting off from our King Shaka hangar this morning – our Flying Doctor Service departed for Newcastle. Onboard our Pilatus PC-12 is a dedicated team of Anaesthetists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Paediatricians and Ortho appliance technicians bringing specialist medical care to KwaZulu-Natal’s rural communities.
This service is designed to provide appropriate and effective healthcare to rural communities by flying specialist teams and support personnel where they’re needed most. By reducing hospital referrals, addressing specialist backlogs, and supporting rural medical practitioners, AMS in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health, is actively improving health outcomes and strengthening the public health system in underserved communities.
