June 6th, 2024, Calitzdorp, Garden Route District Last week, the Oudtshoorn Western Cape Department of Health & Wellness EMS/AMS rescue helicopter provided much-needed relief to approximately 90 families cut-off from the town of Calitzdorp in the Little Karoo. Heavy rains caused the Olifants River to overflow its bank, leaving many families isolated in the aftermath of the floods.
Food parcels, water, and other necessities were delivered to bring relief to the affected households.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts between EMS, AMS, Gift of the Givers, the South African National Defence Force and other role players, these communities received a helping hand during their time of crisis.
