Jared Chetty joined the AMS family in April this year as Financial Manager and has settled in well into his new position. Some interesting facts about Jared is that he has an identical twin. Let’s get to know Jared a little better …
Tell us about yourself: I was born and bred in Gqeberha and relocated to Cape Town in 2012 to live the American dream. I am a sportsman at heart and enjoy spending my free time on the golf course. I have also recently become a father which has now lessened my time on the golf course, but I would not give it up for anything. My personal motto is the acronym B.I.Y – Believe in Yourself, because if you don’t, nobody else will. I have been in the finance field since 2010, having had experience in the film industry, spice manufacturing and now aviation.
Why have you chosen this field? I enjoy the analytical and support that finance gives to businesses to grow and believe that aviation, the niche that it is, will increase my skills to do so.
What motivates you? Growing up as a twin, I always had someone challenging and pushing me. That ambition between us is what motivated me throughout my life. But now, it is my family. Every day I strive to be the best that I can be for them.
Why have you chosen to become part of the AMS team? AMS has granted me the opportunity to use all the skills that I have developed throughout my career to grow within an institution that has been around for many years. The aviation industry is an intriguing and amazing challenge for me, and I hope to make an impact and be part of the history of AMS.
How have you dealt with the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic? When the pandemic started, I was extremely blessed to have found myself in an industry that survived despite the pandemic. I have however learnt that circumstances can change in an instant and not to take the opportunities I have received for granted.
How has the pandemic changed your outlook on life? I have learnt to see that there is always a silver lining.
How do you unwind at the end of each day to manage workload and avoid burnout? I spend my time at the gym or on the driving range. I also enjoy cooking but what is most fulfilling is coming home to my daughter’s smile.
