22 June 2025 – Yesterday, Mercy Wing 5, the dedicated emergency helicopter based in KwaZulu-Natal, was dispatched by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health for an interfacility transfer. The patient was transferred from Rietvlei Hospital to uMgungundlovu Harry Gwala Regional Hospital for specialist medical care.
Mercy Wing 5 operates out of the AMS base at King Shaka International Airport, delivering rapid aero-medical support across the province for critically ill and injured patients.
