AMS was tasked by the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health and other social partners to assist with social relief aid to remote rural communities of KwaZulu-Natal who have been severely affected by the corona virus.
The AMS is honoured to be able to assist in providing humanitarian interventions apart from our daily essential aero-medical emergency services. To date 570 food parcels and 100 sanitation packs have been delivered to Vryheid, Ladysmith, Newcastle, Manguzi and Glenside near Bergville.
A project of this nature is not possible without the commitment and partnership of various roles players. The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health partnered with the following organisations and individuals:
- non-profit organisations such as the Al-Imdaad Foundation to assist with food donation;
- Indiza Airport Management (Pty) Ltd for waivering landing fees and allowing access to Virginia Airport as the central logistics point;
- Focus Air for allowing the use of their hangar at Virginia Airport to store food parcels.
- Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS).
The words of our late President Nelson Mandela echoes, “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.” It is only through partnerships such as these that as a nation we are able to stand together to fight this pandemic and assist those in need.
At AMS, our commitment to changing lives and saving lives knows no boundaries!
