The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness in partnership with the SA Red Cross Air Mercy Service (AMS) provides an emergency rescue and air ambulance service to the community of the Western Cape via a fleet of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. The AMS is privileged to have this longstanding partnership with the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness to ensure that all citizens have access to equitable acute specialised care at all levels. AMS operates from two bases in the Western Cape: one in Cape Town and one in Oudtshoorn in the Eden district. Through this partnership with AMS, The Western Cape Government can reach the far corners of this province. The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness, together with AMS and other affiliated rescue organisations, is proud to serve the Western Cape community. Together we are committed to contribute to the improvement in the quality of life of all communities. In addition to the aero-medical services offered, the AMS offers a range of value-added services. “We believe in investing in the future by developing skilled specialists and making a significant contribution to South Africa’s skills set. To this end the AMS offers value added services contributing to the development of the aviation, health, and other industries” said AMS CEO, Farhaad Haffejee.
